Development Services

The City Council finds it necessary and advisable to regulate the location, bulk, and size of buildings and other structures, and the uses of land for business, industry, residential, recreation, or other purposes, and for such purposes divides the City into districts. For a complete and comprehensive listing of the City of Marion's District classifications and/or to obtain a copy of the City's development regulations please visit the American Legal Publishing website. To find out development information for a particular parcel or for an interpretation of the City's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) please contact the City's Planning and Development Department.

Establishing New Water and Sewer Connection or Relocation Utility Service

The Planning and Development Department processes all applications for new water and/or sewer utility connections or the relocation of water and sewer services.

To establish a new water and sewer billing account that does not require a new service or relocation of an existing service, please contact the Utility Collections Department at City Hall.

The Water-Sewer Connection Application found below is required before a new water and sewer service connection is made or the relocation of service is performed.

All new service outside the City requires approval by the City Council and submission of a request for annexation by the property owner.

Upon approval of a new service or relocation of service, the Applicant shall receive an invoice from the Planning and Development Department outlining all costs and fees associated with the new service or relocation of service. The invoice total must be paid in full to the Utility Collections Department prior to receipt of water or sewer service.
