Catawba River Greenway Has Reopened to the Public

Catawba River Stabilization Project

The City of Marion has completed the riverbank stabilization work along the Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway, which sustained damage during Hurricane Zeta in October 2020.    The greenway and trailhead parking area at the Joseph McDowell House has reopened.

The City would like to thank the McDowell Trails Association, McDowell County Government, and the North Carolina Department of Emergency Management Division of Public Safety for their support of this project.
