The City of Marion is responsible for providing water and/or sewer service to the community.  To establish a new service or if you have questions regarding a bill you are encouraged to call the Utility Billing Department at (828) 652-3551, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

  Establishing New Service

The links below provide additional information about the requirements necessary for all new residential and non-residential applicants who would like to establish new water and/or sewer services with the City of Marion.

To establish a new water and/or sewer connection or service account with the City you may download and complete the applicable application here and deliver in person to the Utility Billing Department located at City Hall. A deposit is required prior to establishing service.  Please see current water and sewer rates listed below.

Residential Water/Sewer Service Application
This application is required for all new residential customers desiring water/sewer service where a connection already exists.

Non-Residential Water/Sewer Service Application
This application is required for all new non-residential customers desiring water/sewer service where a connection already exists. Please note that all new non-residential service requires zoning approval.  For zoning verification please contact the Zoning Administrator in the Planning & Development Department at (828) 652-3551.

Water-Sewer Tap Connection Application
This application is required when a new water/sewer connection is being established for service. The Public Works Department handles requests for water and sewer service in areas not served by the city, or where water or sewer service connections are not in place in a particular location. If a new connection is being requested in an area not currently served by city water or sewer or you are unsure if service is available in your area please contact the City of Marion Public Works Department at (828) 652-4224 prior to submitting an application for new connection.

All new service outside the City requires approval by City Council and submission of a request for annexation by the property owner. Tap fees, cost recovery charges, a deposit, and other applicable fees must be paid prior to receipt of water or sewer service where service does not currently exist.

  Late Payment

Payment must be received in the Utility Billing Department no later than 5:00pm on the 15th day of each month to avoid a late fee.   Please note that a lost or undelivered bill does not excuse a late payment.  If a bill is not paid by the 25th of the month an additional penalty will be applied, and service is subject to disconnection. If service is disconnected a reconnection fee will be charged to reestablish service.  Delinquent accounts where the water has been turned off shall not have such services restored until such delinquent account, including all penalties, has been paid in full.
