Historic Marion Train Depot

The Community Building, located at 191 North Main Street across from City Hall, was constructed in 1938 as a WPA project, as part of the New Deal Program, and has served the community for many years. It stands today much as it did in 1938, with some modern updates, and is available for many types of functions. There are two separate spaces available for rental in the Community Building.

The Marion Train Depot, located at 58 Depot Street, was originally constructed as a freight depot to serve Marion on the Western Rail Line in 1935, a newer addition to the building was constructed in 1952.  In 2005, with assistance from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the City of Marion renovated the Marion Train Depot, which now serves as Marion’s Office of Economic Development and a facility for many community events.
