City Council Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Only one Council Meeting is scheduled for July, on the third Tuesday, and December, on the first Tuesday. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber in City Hall, located at 194 North Main Street. Special meetings are periodically held and are advertised in accordance with State law.

Meetings of the Planning Board, Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber in City Hall, located at 194 North Main Street.

Tree Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. in the months of February, May, August and November at The Steakhouse located at 1610 North Main Street in Marion.

Other committee meetings of City Council are scheduled periodically when matters are referred to the appropriate committee by City Council.

The City, County and McDowell County Schools hold a joint Utility Committee each month on the third Thursday at 3:00 pm at City Hall.
