Fire Department

 

 

Marion Fire Department’s full-time and volunteer firefighters are ready to respond quickly to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Equipment includes three pumper trucks, two tanker trucks, a 100-foot aerial ladder truck, and a four wheel drive brush unit. To support fire prevention and safety, the department offers school and civic club programs, fire station tours, and school presentations.

In 2010-11, the Department answered 607 alarms, conducted 767 fire inspections, and had 25 structure fires. The Fire Department conducts fire inspections of commercial and institutional buildings in accordance with State law.

The Department maintains a staff of six full time employees and about 27 volunteer firefighters. The fire department responds to emergencies in the City Limits and the six mile Marion Area Fire District.

Jim Neal serves as the City’s Fire Chief.
