Fire Engineer

The City of Marion is accepting applications for Fire Engineer in the Marion Fire Department. Employee will be responsible for maintaining and operating firefighting equipment, directing volunteers, and perfomring general firefighting duties as required. A valid NC driver's license, certification at Firefighter Level II within a specified period of time, and other certification including but not limited to fire instructor and Haz-Mat technician. Collection/Distribution Technician

 The City of Marion is accepting applications for Collection/Distribution Technician in the Utility Maintenance Department.  Employee will work as a member of a crew engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer lines and related appurtenances.  Work involves operation of construction equipment and tools, considerable lifting, and medium to heavy physical activity.  A valid NC driver’s license and high school diploma or GED is required.   A CDL must be obtained within a specified period of time, at the expense of the employee.  Pre-employment drug, fitness for duty, and background check(s) will be required.  Week-end call duty is required on a rotation.  Qualified applicants may apply at City Hall or at the Public Works Department.  This position is open until filled. Street Department Maintenance Worker

The City of Marion is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker in the Street Division of Public Works.  The complete job description is attached.  A valid NC driver’s license is required.   A CDL must be obtained within a specified period of time, at the expense of the employee.  Pre-employment drug, fitness for duty, and background check(s) will be required.  Experience in concrete and asphalt work is preferred.  Applicants skilled in finishing high psi concrete will receive a significant amount of consideration.
