Water Utility Maintenance Superintendent
The City of Marion is accepting applications for a Water Utility Maintenance Superintendent. This position serves as the Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) of the City’s water distribution system, cross connection control program, and wastewater collection system. Duties include planning and oversight of the operation, installation, maintenance, and repair of a Class A Distribution system and Grade 2 Collection system; utility systems planning; project budget development and management; supervision of Crews and Crew Leaders; providing technical advice and assistance to the Public Works Director; resolving complaints/concerns from the public; insuring that modern, safe, effective, and efficient practices are utilized by municipal work crews; training of personnel; and insuring that the utility systems are operated in compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations governing water and wastewater systems. Work includes a full range of personnel management responsibilities. Sound judgment and initiative is required in the performance of responsibilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Director.
Possession of the following certifications/licenses: NC Class A Water Distribution Certification; NC Backflow/Cross Connection Control Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year from date of hire; NC Grade 2 Wastewater Collection Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year from date of hire; Valid NC Drivers License; NC Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.
